RESOLUTION NO, 97-020
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A
UTILITY POLE TRAILER FROM SAUBER MANUFACTURING COM-
PANY WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF CITY BID PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, the Electric Department's pole trailer has no brakes and, therefore, does not
have sufficient legal load capability required for the transport of 75-foot poles; and
WHEREAS, the cost of installing brakes on this trailer would nearly equal the purchase
price of a new one; and
WHEREAS, the Electric Department has contacted several vendors and manufacturers
regarding its desire to replace the existing trailer and has found only one unit meeting the
department's requirements; and
WHEREAS, given the very specific requirements for the pole trailer and its limited
availability, it is in the public interest to waive standard bid requirements for this purchase; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the Electric Department's Fiscal Year 1997 budget
to cover the cost of purchasing the trailer, FOB Seward; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Sauber
Manufacturing Company to provide a Utility Pole Trailer, Model 4500 "Extended" for a price not
to exceed $14,776, delivered in Seward,
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption,
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 10th
day of February, 1997.
