RESOLUTION NO. 97-027
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, RECOMMENDING KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH PLANNING
COMMISSION APPROVAL OF THE WATERFRONT TRACTS MARI-
CULTURE ADDITION PRELIMINARY PLAT
WHEREAS, Tract 1 of the Waterfront Tracts is owned by the City of Seward (City) and
leased to the University of Alaska (University); and
WHEREAS, with City approval, the University sublet a 1.568 acre parcel to the Alaska
Department ofFish and Game (ADF&G) for the development of the Mariculture Technical Center
Shellfish Hatchery; and
WHEREAS, the Mariculture Technical Center Shellfish Hatchery was constructed on the
site; and
WHEREAS, Whitford Surveying submitted a preliminary plat which subdivides the
University and ADF&G parcels into two lots; and
WHEREAS, Seward City Code S16,01.015 requires that the City Council approve
preliminary plats of City-owned land prior to review and approval by the Borough Planning
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the Waterfront Tracts
Mariculture Addition preliminary plat at its February 5, 1997 meeting and recommended City
Council approval of this resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Waterfront Tracts Mariculture Addition preliminary plat is hereby
recommended to the Borough Planning Commission for review and approval subject to the
following conditions:
a, The two parcels will be identified on the final plat as Tract lA and Tract IB; and
b. The easements for both overhead and underground utilities as requested by the City
of Seward Engineering and Utilities Department will be included,

Section 2. City Manager approval of the final plat will be contingent upon the submittal of
an as-built survey which identifies that all Zoning Code development requirements have been met.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 24th
day ofFebruary, 1997.
