RESOLUTION NO, 97-030
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING A SOFTBALL FIELD CONSTRUCTION AGREE-
MENT WITH SEWARD LITTLE LEAGUE AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City has received a letter of intent from Seward Little League President
Jerry Fleetwood to enter into a cooperative agreement with the City for the construction of a new
ballfield; and
WHEREAS, under the terms of the contract, the City would appropriate up to $150,000 for
reimbursement to Seward Little League for actual direct expenses incurred relative to construction
of the ballfield; and
WHEREAS, in addition, the contract provides that city employees may volunteer their time
to operate city-owned equipment at no charge to Seward Little League to assist in some aspects of
this project; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to encourage the use of volunteer services and labor
to provide public recreation facilities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with
Seward Little League for construction of a ballfield to be located on City property.
Section 2. City employees are hereby authorized to volunteer their time to assist in project
construction using city-owned equipment and tools,
Section 3. The sum of$130,381 is hereby appropriated from the Electric Enterprise Fund's
Chugach Electric Rebate Account No, 501-0000-3070-0312, the sum of$19,619 is appropriated
from the Youth Center Renovation Account No. 101-0000-2040-0230, and the total sum of$150,000
is appropriated to the Ballfield Capital Project Fund Account No. 312-0000-3070-0000.
Section 4. The Ballfield Capital Project Budget attached and incorporated herein by
reference is hereby approved.
Section 5, This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption,
