CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 97-036
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, SELECTING STATE LANDS IDENTIFIED AS ADL 201288,
TRACT B, ALASKA RAILROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY, FOR TRANSFER TO
THE CITY OF SEWARD PURSUANT TO THE ALASKA MUNICIPAL
ENTITLEMENT ACT
WHEREAS, the Alaska Municipal Land Entitlement Act of 1978 provides for the selection
and transfer of up to 565 acres of State lands to the City of Seward; and
WHEREAS, through City of Seward Resolutions No. 78-41,79-18,79-37,79-38,87-001
and 88-023, the City has received patent to 519.267 acres; and
WHEREAS, the City has a remaining entitlement of 49.603 acres; and
WHEREAS, the city has identified State-owned land known as Tract B of the Alaska
Railroad Right-of-Way, located within the City's Waterfront Park, as being available and desirable
for selection toward the fulfillment of the City's municipal entitlement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Pursuant to AS 29.65, General Grant Land, the City of Seward hereby submits
the attached application, incorporated herein by reference, to the Alaska Department of Natural
Resources for selection of that parcel ofland identified as Tract B of the Alaska Railroad Right-of-
Way and further identified on Division of Lands status maps as ADL 201288.
Section 2. The City of Seward is prepared to enter into a special services agreement to
prioritize the transfer of this property and to reimburse the State of Alaska for the direct costs
associated with the transfer of said lands from the State to the City.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 10th
day of March, 1997.
