Sponsored by: King CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 97-041 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, REDUCING THE MOTOR VEHICLES CLERK POSITION TO THIRTY HOURS PER WEEK WHEREAS, during the FY 1997 budget process, the City Council authorized sufficient funding to increase the Department of Motor Vehicles Clerk to a full-time position in order to accommodate increased activity in the Department; and WHEREAS, at that time, the City projected revenues resulting from the increased activity to fully cover the cost of the DMV Clerk position; and WHEREAS, at the request of Councilmember King, the Police Department and the Finance Department prepared a report comparing actual revenues to expenditures for the first six months of the current fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the initial report indicated that revenues had not met the City's projections, and the City was subsidizing the increased hours for the DMV Clerk position; and WHEREAS, as a result of that report, Mr. King requested a resolution decreasing the DMV Clerk's hours to thirty (30) per week in order to assure that revenues generated from DMV activities would cover the cost of providing this service to the public; and WHEREAS, a subsequent review of this budget by the City has found that revenues were inaccurately reported in the earlier report to the City Council, and locally-generated DMV revenues have covered the cost of providing the service for the period July I, 1997 through January 31, 1997; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. Effective April I, 1997, the Department of Motor Vehicles Clerk position will be reduced from a full-time position to a thirty-hour-per-week position, and the Police Department Salary Budget No. 101-12l0-XXXX is hereby reduced to reflect the reduction in hours for the position. Section 2. A copy of the revised budget is attached and incorporated herein by reference. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
