CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 97-045
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING A COOPERATIVE FIRE PROTECTION AGREE-
MENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SEWARD AND THE STATE DIVISION
OF FORESTRY
WHEREAS, the Alaska Division of Forestry has requested a mutual aid agreement with the
Kenai Peninsula Borough and the cities within the Borough to coordinate their efforts in the
prevention, detection and suppression of wildland fires; and
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough approved and signed this agreement in June
1996; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to work with the Borough and the State to protect the
greater community and its residents from the dangers presented by wildland fires;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. A Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement with the State of Alaska, Department
of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry in coordination with the Kenai Peninsula Borough and
the other Cities within the Borough is hereby approved.
Section 2. In accordance with this Agreement, the Operating Agreement, attached and
incorporated as a part of the Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement, shall be reviewed annually by
the City Fire Chief and officials of the Alaska Forestry Division to make any needed adjustments
and/or modifications to the Operating Plan.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 24th
day of March, 1997.
