HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1997-047 r r Sponsored by: Garzini CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 97-047 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A BACKHOE FOR THE WATER & SEWER DEPARTMENT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS WHEREAS, the FY 1997 capital budget identifies the purchase of a backhoe for the Water & Sewer Department as a capital priority and contains funds for the purchase of the backhoe; and WHEREAS, the City issued and invitation to bid for a new diesel tractor with a 1-1.5 cubic yard capacity loader and a minimum 15'6" backhoe in accordance with standard city bid procedures; and WHEREAS, three bids were received in response to the City's invitation to bid; and WHEREAS, the low bid submitted by Construction Machinery did not meet the requirements set forth in the invitation to bid in several important areas and was, therefore, deemed to be non-responsive; and WHEREAS, NC Machinery submitted the lower ofthe two responsive bids received by the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a purchase order not to exceed $69,871, FOB Seward, to NC Machinery for the purchase of a CAT 436-C as provided in the submitted bid documents. Section 2. The sum of$69,871 is hereby appropriated from the Water & Sewer Enterprise Fund Retained Earnings Account no. 701-0000-3050 to the Sewage General Equipment Expense Account No. 701-7900-5930. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 14th day of April, 1997. FINANCIAL SECRETARY KNU1E ANDFHSON PRESIDENT The City of Seward (Seward) and the IBEW LU 1547 agree to extend the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Electric Utility Department Employees until June 3D, 1998 with the following conditions: 1) Wage and benefit rates will not increase from their present level during the extension period; 2) Seward will not transfer, assign, or subcontract any work normally performed by the Bargaining Unit Employees to any person, firm or r nrporation that is not signatory to an agreement with the IBEW LU 1547.
