RESOLUTION NO. 97-058
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, GIVING NOTICE THAT THE CITY WILL CEASE OPERATION
OF A PUBLIC DUMP STATION AS OF OCTOBER 1,1997, PROVIDED
THERE IS A PRIVATE AL TERNA TIVE IN PLACE
WHEREAS, for the past several years, the City of Seward has operated a public dump
station for the benefit of visitors with self-contained camper units; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City to privatize this public service; and
WHEREAS, as long as the City provides a public dump station, there is little incentive for
the private sector to invest in the improvements necessary to provide this service; and
WHEREAS, it is in the harbor's best interest to remove this activity from the harbor area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Beginning October I, 1997, the City of Seward will no longer operate a public
dump station for the discharge of waste from self-contained camper units, provided there is a private
alternative in place.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 12th day
of May, 1997.
