RESOLUTION NO. 97-087
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING PAYMENT TO NEWBERY ALASKA, INC. FOR
ASSISTING IN REROUTING AND REMOVING PRIMARY CONDUCTORS
ALONG RAILWAY AVENUE
WHEREAS, The City of Seward and the Alaska SeaLife Center agreed to split the cost of
rerouting the primary overhead conductors on Railway Avenue to enable the electric utility to
remove three poles and associated conductors from the front of the new building; and
WHEREAS, the benefits from the removal of the poles included clean-up of hazardous work
areas, provision of a better primary feeder for the SeaLife Center and Lowell Point and an enhanced
view ofthe area; and
WHEREAS, in order to complete the work in a safe manner without prolonged power
outages from Railway A venue to Lowell Point, an additional crew with a bucket truck and
equipment was needed; and
WHEREAS, the contractor, Newbery Alaska Inc., was already under contract to perform
electrical work on the SeaLife Center, and the City was able to split the cost of mobilization and de-
mobilization with Chilkat Electric, the SeaLife Center electrical contractor; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the Electric Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to pay Newbery Alaska an amount
totaling $18,797.81 for electrical work performed on behalf of the Electric Department.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.

ofJune,1997.
