RESOLUTION NO. 97-088
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF THE CITY OF SEWARD THE QUESTION OF REPEAL OF
RESOLUTION NO. 97-032 OF THE CITY OF SEWARD AT A SPECIAL
ELECTION IN AND FOR THE CITY OF SEWARD ON JULY 15, 1997
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seward adopted Resolution No, 97-032 on April
28, 1997; and
WHEREAS, Section 4,6 of the Charter of the City of Seward provides that a referendum
may be had on any act of the Council in the manner and subject to the limitations as set forth by law
or in the City Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has certified a petition to refer Resolution No. 97-032 to the
qualified voters of the City of Seward as sufficient and has submitted the petition to the Council; and
WHEREAS, Seward City Code S 4,15,050 A provides that if no regular election occurs
within 75 days of certification of a sufficient referendum petition, the Council shall hold a special
election within 75 days of submission to the Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. A special election is to be held on July 15, 1997, in and for the City of Seward,
for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Seward a proposition substantially
in the following form:

REPEAL OF RESOLUTION NO. 97-032
Shall Resolution No, 97-032, of the City of Seward, approving the
termination of the Seward Forest Products leases, the sale of certain
real property, the lease of certain tidelands that may be acquired by
the City, and an agreement to sell rock, if available, to Afognak
Logging, be repealed?

A "YES" vote supports repeal of Resolution No, 97-032, A "NO"
vote opposes repeal of Resolution No, 97-032,
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption,
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 9th day
of June, 1997,
