CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 97-149
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING AMENDMENT NO.3, INCREASING THE
CONTRACT AMOUNT AND EXTENDING THE CONTRACT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF SEWARD AND DERRALD J. HILDERBRAND D.B.A. DJH
METER SERVICES THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 1998.
WHEREAS, council approved an electrical meter reading contract with Derrald 1.
Hilderbrand d.b,a. DJH Meter Services on September 26, 1994; and
WHEREAS, the contract terms were for one year expiring on September 30, 1995, with the
option of three one year extensions upon satisfactory performance and approval of both parties; and
WHEREAS, two one year extensions have been previously approved on August 28, 1995,
and September 23, 1996, respectively; and
WHEREAS, Mr, Hilderbrand's performance has been excellent and he has agreed to another
one year extension through September 30, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the current contract is based on 2,100 electric meters at a unit price of seventy
-five cents ($0.75); and
WHEREAS, the proposed contract is based on 2,175 electric meters at a unit price of
eighty-two cents ($0,82); and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hilderbrand delivers the door hangers notifying delinquent customers of
possible disconnection, unless payment or payment arrangements have been made; and
WHEREAS, the City pays $40.00 per month for up to 30 door hangers and an additional
$1.00 for each door hanger over 30; and
WHEREAS, the proposed contract price for delivering door hangers will be a flat rate of
$2,25 per door hanger; and
WHEREAS, the meter counts have continued to rise since 1994; and
WHEREAS, the delivery ofthe door hangers include delivery of door hangers as far as mile
25, and the increase in delivering door hangers is justified in order to cover the contractor's costs to
deliver door hangers; and

WHEREAS, there are budget funds available in the Electric Enterprise Fund to cover the
proposed electrical meter reading contract costs for FY 98;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to execute amendment number 3, extending the
electrical meter reading contract between the City of Seward and Derrald 1. Hilderbrand d.b,a, Drn
Meter Services through September 30, 1998.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 8th day
of September, 1997,
