CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 97-152
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING AN $8,000 MATCHING CONTRIBUTION TO THE
SEWARD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO MATCH THE CHAMBER'S
GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND REGIONAL
AFFAIRS TO CONDUCT THE CONVENTION SERVICES RESEARCH AND
FEASmILITY STUDY FOR THE PROPOSED MULTI-AGENCY FACILITY
AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the Seward Chamber of Commerce has been awarded an $8,000 matching
grant from the State of Alaska Department of Community and Regional Affairs (DCRA) to conduct
a convention services research and feasibility study for Seward; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce's grant to conduct a convention services facility and
feasibility study for Seward is an important step that needs to be completed prior to the preliminary
design for the Multi-Agency Facility; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce's study will help determine the scope of operations
and services needed for the community section of the Multi-Agency Facility; and
WHERAS, the City needs to assist the Chamber and the community to organize our plan
for the operations ofthe community section of the Multi-Agency Facility;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council hereby approves a matching contribution of up to $8,000 toward
the Seward Chamber of Commerce's Department of Community and Regional Affairs grant to
conduct the convention services research and feasibility study and appropriating $8,000 from the
Capital Acquisition Fund, account no. 103-0000-3070-0101 to the General Fund Contributions to
Chamber of Commerce, account no. 101-1191-5601-1189.
Section2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 8 day
of September, 1997.
