CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 98-07
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AMENDING THE LAND USE PLAN AND ZONING
DESIGNATION OF LOTS 1-20, BLOCK 23, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF
SEWARD FROM URBAN RESIDENTIAL TO OFFICE RESIDENTIAL
WHEREAS, the Land Use Plan and Zoning designation of Lots 1-20, Block 23, Original
Townsite of Seward is currently Urban Residential; and
WHEREAS, the existing use of the property includes: a church, preschool, single-family
homes, duplex, offices, and nightly lodging rentals; and
WHEREAS, Lots 1-20, Block 23, Original Townsite of Seward appear to fit the character
of the Office Residential district which is intended to provide for medium density residential
commercial and office development designed to act as a transition zone between the high density
central business district and surrounding medium-high residential districts; and
WHEREAS, the rezone of Lots 1-20, Block 23, Original Townsite of Seward to Office
Residential will bring existing uses into conformance with the Zoning Code; and
WHEREAS, Lots 21-40, Block 23, Original Townsite of Seward are already zoned Office
Residential; and
WHEREAS, at its June 3, 1998 meeting, the Planning & Zoning Commission held a public
hearing and recommended the proposed Land Use and Zoning Map amendments included in this
ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. The Official City of Seward Land Use Map is hereby amended by changing the
designation of Lots 1-20, Block 23, Original Townsite of Seward from Urban Residential to Office
Residential.
Section 2. The Official City of Seward Zoning Map is hereby amended by changing the
designation of Lots 1-20, Block 23, Original Townsite of Seward from Urban Residential to Office
Residential.

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
