CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 97-164
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING A $23,487 MUNICIPAL CAPITAL PROJECT
MATCHING GRANT AWARD FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA AND
APPROPRIATING THE CITY MATCHING REQUIREMENT OF $4,407
FROM THE GENERAL FUND FUND BALANCE
WHEREAS, the City of Seward Community Library has been awarded a Municipal Capital
Project Matching Grant for a Library Information and Technology Automation Project; and
WHEREAS, the grant award is from the State of Alaska in the amount of$23,487; and
WHEREAS, the grant award will require a local contribution share in the amount $4,407;
and
WHEREAS, approval of the local share is required for acceptance of the grant; and
WHEREAS, the automation project would accomplish, among other things, enable the
library to automate its card catalog and circulation system; purchase computers; provide three
Internet accounts for patron and staff use; expand services the Library is able to offer; reduce the
need to hire more Library personnel to meet increasingly heavy workloads and more demands in the
use of the Library's resources and services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City hereby accepts a $23,487 Municipal Capital Project Matching Grant
award from the State of Alaska and appropriates the funds to revenue account no. 826-8260-4680-
0200.
Section 2. The City appropriates the matching requirement of $4, 407 from the General Fund
fund balance account no. 101-000-3070-0826.
Section 3. The total project amount of $27,894 is hereby appropriated to the Library
Automation Fund, account no. 826-8260-5XXX.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
