CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO, 97-179
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO SERVE AS THE PASS-THRU
AGENCY ON BEHALF OF CHUGACH ALASKA CORPORATION, AS
RECIPIENT OF A UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
FOREST SERVICE GRANT AND APPROPRIATING $17,500 IN RURAL
DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT GRANT REVENUE ACCOUNT FUNDS TO
A PASS-THRU EXPENDITURE ACCOUNT
WHEREAS, as part of their renovation of the Historic Seward Railroad Depot, Chugach
Alaska Corporation (CAe) applied for and has received a United States Department of Agriculture
(U.S,D.A.) Forest Service grant; and
WHEREAS, CAC was awarded a $17,500 Rural Development Assistance Grant under the
Economic Recovery Program; and
WHEREAS, the grant money is to be spent toward the design and engineering costs of the
Chugach Heritage and Cultural Center; and
WHEREAS, although there is some administrative impact to the City in this type of
arrangement, the administration of the grant will be performed by CAC to the greatest extent
possible; and
WHEREAS, attached is an October 29, 1996 memorandum of understanding that makes this
relationship possible; and
WHEREAS, council action is required to authorize the City to serve as the pass-thru agency
for a U.S.D.A. Forest Service grant on behalf ofCAC;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Council authorizes the City to serve as the pass-thru agency on behalf of
Chugach Alaska Corporation, as recipient of a U.S.D.A. Forest Service grant.
Section 2. The Council authorizes the Acting City Manager to appropriate $17,500 in Rural
Development Assistant Grand Funds from Pass- Thru Special Revenue Fund federal grant revenue
account no. 890-8900-4680-0100 to the pass-thru expenditure account no. 890-8900-5998.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 6 day
of November, 1997.
