CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO, 97-184
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE ACTING CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A
PURCHASE ORDER IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,500 TO YUKON
EQUIPMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF MODEL 90XP BRUSH CHIPPER
WHEREAS, the Electric Department, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation, have long
needed a Brush Chipper to accomplish their work; and
WHEREAS, in the past, the departments have been able to rent a chipper from the local
merchant, but it is really inadequate for all of the work the three departments need to do; and
WHEREAS, we have budgeted this year for a unit which would be purchased equally by all
three departments and used by each of them as needed; and
WHEREAS, this unit will save the $40/truck load charged by the Borough Landfill for such
material and the material produced by the chipper can be utilized for landscaping by Parks &
Recreation and for other community projects; and
WHEREAS, the City has been offered a unit with only 6 total hours at a price of $14,500,
which represents a savings of $3, 1 00 over the price of a new unit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the Acting City Manager to issue a purchase order
in the amount of$14,500 to Yukon Equipment for the purchase ofModel90XP brush chipper.
Section 2. The cost will be divided among the following departments: Electric Department,
501-5400-5930 ($4,833.34); Street Department, 101-1311-5930 ($4,833.33); and Parks and
Recreation Department, 101-1311-5930 ($4,833.33).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 24 day
of November, 1997.
