RESOLUTION NO. 97-185
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ADDING THE ALASKA RAILROAD DOCK EXPANSION
PROJECT TO THE 1998 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES LIST
WHEREAS, on October 27, 1997, the City Council passed Resolution 97-173 which set
forth the City's 1998 Federal Legislative Priorities; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Railroad Dock expansion project was left off of the list because it
appeared that funding for the project had been attained through the Department of Transportation
Appropriation bill; and
WHEREAS, the administration is bringing this project forward for inclusion into the 1998
Federal Legislative Priorities list because President Clinton line item vetoed the dock expansion
funds; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council to continue to pursue all other available
means offunding this project at its full amount of$7.1 million; and
WHEREAS, adding this project to the legislative priorities provides our Congressional
delegation, the City Administration, and the City's lobbyists with needed community and political
support; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends adding this project to the list as the #2
priority and to renumber projects 2 through 7; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Alaska Railroad Dock expansion project is added as priority #2, and
following projects have been identified by the City of Seward as its top seven priorities:

Alaska SeaLife Center Research
Multi-Agency Facility
East Harbor Expansion
North Dock Extension and Major Repair

RESOLUTION NO. 97-185
Section 2. A description of the Alaska Railroad Dock Expansion is attached and
incorporated by reference.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 24 day
of November, 1997.
