CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 97-191
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RENEW THE
CONTRACT WITH MARATHON FUEL THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 1998
AND ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$215,822.75
WHEREAS, in December 1995, the City properly advertised for bids on various petroleum
products; and
WHEREAS, Marathon Fuel Services, Inc., was the only bidder; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 96-002 approved a contract with Marathon Fuel Services, Inc.
for $193,470.03 in January 1996; and
WHEREAS, the contract included an option to renew for two additional years, including any
increases or decreases to the product cost; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 97-014 renewed the contract for 1997; and
WHEREAS, the City has received satisfactory service from Marathon Fuel Services, Inc.
and recommends that their contract to provide petroleum products be renewed beginning January
1, 1998 to December 31, 1998;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Seward City Council authorizes the City Manager to renew the contract with
Marathon Fuel through December 31, 1998 and to issue a purchase order for an amount not to
exceed $215,822.75.2
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this 8th day
of December, 1997.
