CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-070
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A TRANSFER OF
RESPONSIBILITIES AGREEMENT FOR WAVE BARRIER TESTING
WHEREAS, the feasibility of a project to expand the Seward
Small Boat Harbor may be contingent upon use of a permeable wave
barrier: and
WHEREAS, the city of Seward, the University of Alaska, the
Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, and
peratrovich Nottingham & Drage Engineers have committed to fund a
total of $85,000 in dollars and in-kind contributions for testing
of a permeable wave barrier: and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Science & Technology Foundation has
awarded a matching grant of $100,000 to PN&D Engineers to perform
permeable waver barrier testing: and
WHEREAS, PN&D has agreed to perform the test utilizing
facilities of the British Columbia Research corporation: and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public
Facilities has elected to transfer its $10,000 share of matching
funds to the city of Seward for subsequent payment to PN&D
Engineers:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Seward, Alaska, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to sign a
Transfer of Responsibilities Agreement with the Alaska Department
of Transportation and Public Facilities to accept $10,000 in
matching funds for permeable wave barrier testing.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 10th day of June, 1991.
