CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-073
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A CONTRACT AMENDMENT
WITH SUMMIT PAVING FOR OVERLAYING WASHINGTON &
ADAMS STREETS AND REPAIRING THE PAVEMENT AT FOURTH &
RAILWAY AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City Council approved Resolution No. 91-037,
authorizing the City Manager to negotiate with Summit Paving a
price to overlay Washington and Adams Streets: and
WHEREAS, the contractor has provided a unit price proposal to
accomplish this work for an estimated cost of $60,082: and
WHEREAS, Exxon paid the City $7, 578.40 to repair damage caused
by heavy traffic at the Otter Center located at the intersection of
Fourth and Railway: and
WHEREAS, the cost of overlaying this intersection is estimated
to be $8,160: and
WHEREAS, interest revenue from the General Obligation Bonds
sold for the repair of streets and sidewalks exceeds the cost of
overlaying Washington and Adams Streets: and
WHEREAS, the repair of Washington Street, Adams Street, and
the intersection of Fourth and Railway is essential work which must
be completed this season to preserve the structure of the streets
from further damage and ultimate complete failure of the surface
paving:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the city
of Seward, Alaska, that:
section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to appropri-
ate the sum of $60,663.60 from the Interest Revenue Account No.
101-0000-4610-0010 to special Project Fund No. 203-2030.
section 2. The city Manager is further authorized to execute
a change order with Summit Paving and Construction to provide for
the overlaying of washington and Adams Streets and the intersection
of Railway and Fourth Avenues at unit prices proposed by the
contractor for a total estimated cost of $68,242.00.
section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 10th day of June, 1991.
