Sponsored by: Schaefermever CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 91-096 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH FOR ENHANCED 911 SERVICES WHEREAS, the current 911 emergency communications system is housed in the city of Seward Police Department dispatch center located in the city of Seward; and WHEREAS, the city is willing and able to provide 911 service to Seward (224 exchange) and Moose Pass (288 exchange); and WHEREAS, the Kenai peninsula Borough, under the authority of AS 29.35.010(13), has entered into agreements or arrangements with various other governmental units for the operation of the emergency communication centers; and WHEREAS, the Kenai peninsula Borough wishes to utilize the expertise and assistance of the Seward Police Department in the administration and supervision of an emergency communications system; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract between the city and the Kenai Peninsula Borough for enhanced 911 services. A copy of the contract is attached and incorporated herein by reference. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. CONTRACT FOR 911 SERVICES AGREEMENT is made and entered into this ;7.--# day of _ , 1988, by and between the KENAI PENINS BOROUGH, an Alaska municipal corporation, hereinafter referred to as the "BOROUGH" and the CITY OF SEWARD, an Alaska municipal corporation, hereinafter referred to as the "CITY". WHEREAS, the BOROUGH wishes to continue with the provision of its 911 emergency telephone communication system throughout the Borough; and WHEREAS, the CITY is currently serving parties on the 224 (Seward) and 288 (Moose Pass and Crown Point) telephone ex- changes as part of an earlier agreement with the BOROUGH which has expired; NOW, THEREFORE, agreements hereinafter hereinafter set forth, follows: in consideration of the covenants and contained and the payment of monies as the parties hereto mutually agree as GENERAL PROVISIONS I. SERVICES: A. The CITY shall provide 911 services to the following exchanges: 1. Seward (224 exchange); 2. Moose Pass (288 exchange); 3. Crown Point (288 exchange); and 4. Any other telephone exchanges agreed to by both parties. B. 911 services shall consist of providing access such that if telephone users with telephone numbers in the above-mentioned exchanges dial "911" on their tele- phones, they will connect with a 911 switch board which shall then route any such call to the appropri- ate emergency services organization. C. The CITY shall provide its own personnel sufficient to staff the 911 switchboard on a 24-hour basis during each day of the contract period. II. Time of Performance: This agreement shall take effect immediately upon approval of the CITY and the BOROUGH and shall continue in effect until amended or terminated by either of the parties as provided in Section V, below. . . . Payment: The BOROUGH agrees to provide funding in the amount of THIRTY-NINE THOUSAND, SEVEN HUNDRED AND SIXTY AND NO/lOOTHS DOLLARS ($39,760.00) annually to the CITY with payment due on or before July 1 each year. Either party may terminate this Agreement with sixty (60) days written notice to the other party.
