CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-129
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT TO METCO, INC.,
TO PERFORM ON-CALL SNOW PLOWING AND SANDING SERVICES
WHEREAS, a request for bids to perform snow plowing and
sanding services was properly advertised and only one firm, METCO,
INC., responded; and
WHEREAS, the lump sum price of maintaining Nash Road bid by
METCO, Inc., exceeded the city's estimate; and
WHEREAS, the bid also included a listing of equipment rental
to perform on-call snow removal and sanding services; and
WHEREAS, the actual amount of work and sand required for
winter maintenance of Nash Road will depend upon the weather; and
WHEREAS, the contractor has agreed to perform winter mainte-
nance of Nash Road on an on- call basis instead of a lump sum
contract;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. It is in the public interest to negotiate with the
only bidder to award a contract for snow plowing and sanding
services on an on-call rather than a lump sum basis.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute
a contract with METCO, Inc., to provide on-call snow plowing and
sanding services to the city for an amount not to exceed $20,000.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 14th day of October, 1991.
