CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-130
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A PURCHASE ORDER TO
HUTCHINGS CHEVROLET TO PURCHASE VEHICLES FOR
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE CITY SHOP
WHEREAS, a request for bids to purchase one 1-ton truck and
one 4-door utility vehicle was properly advertised; and
WHEREAS, three firms submitted bids; and
WHEREAS, all bids included exceptions to the proposal
specifications; and
WHEREAS, the exceptions by Hutchings Chevrolet were fewer; and
WHEREAS, the cost of modifying the vehicles proposed by
peninsula Ford to meet specifications or to be comparable to those
submitted by Hutchings Chevrolet would increase the cost of the
peninsula Ford vehicles to exceed the Hutchings bid; and
WHEREAS, using the local bidder preference requirement of City
Code ~ 6.010.230 C., and taking into account modifications needed
to meet bid specifications, Hutchings Chevrolet submitted the low
bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The bid submitted by Anchorage Sales and Service
is rejected under the local bidder preference set forth in Seward
City Code ~ 6.010.230.
Section 2. Notwithstanding the exceptions contained in the
bids submitted by the two local proposers, both bidders are hereby
found to be responsible and their bids to be responsive.
Section 3. The Council finds that the bid submitted by
Hutchings Chevrolet is the least costly for comparable vehicles.
Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a
purchase order to Hutchings Chevrolet to purchase one 1-ton truck
and one 4-door utility vehicle at a total cost not to exceed
$42,956.89.
Section 5. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
