Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 91-134 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, COMMENDING THE SEWARD SEAHAWKS BOYS' AND GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS FOR WINNING REGION AND STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS WHEREAS, the Region 3A Championships were held at Skyview High School in Soldotna on Saturday, September 28, 1991; and WHEREAS, the Seward Seahawks Boys' and Girls' Cross Country teams both won the Region 3A Championships; and WHEREAS, this is the first time a Kenai Peninsula Borough School District school has won both boys' and girls' championship games; and WHEREAS, both teams further competed in the State Champion- ships in Anchorage on October 5, 1991; and WHEREAS, the Seward Seahawks became the first team in the State to earn both boys' and girls' 1A-2A-3A State Championships in the same year; and WHEREAS, the boys' team won with 21 points, making this their fourth state championship; and WHEREAS, the girls' team won with 48 points giving them their first state championship; and WHEREAS, the teams were also honored for academic achievements for boys' and girls' teams with GPA's of 3.39 and 3.64 respective- ly; and WHEREAS, the girls' team members are: Emily Ransom, Kristel Nelsen, Sally Swenson, Cedar Bourgeois, Heather Rough, Beth Van Deusen, Laurie Cagle, Julie Cagle and Jessie Marrs; and WHEREAS, Stigall, Eli Brian Lynch, Williams; the boys' team members are: Daryl Sela, Russell Lane, Carl Wassilie, Steven Huss, Steve Thompson, Ralph Beers, Sean Cruger, Glen Taylor and Mike NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. That the city of Seward offers its sincerest congratulations to these two fine athletic teams on winning the Region 3A Championships and the State Championships. . . CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 91-134 Section 2. That copies of this resolution shall be sent to the Kenai Peninsula Borough, parents of the team members through the schools, the Principal of Seward High School, and the Superin- tendent of Schools. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 28th day of October, 1991.
