CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-136
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION
FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION
PROJECTS FROM THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND
WHEREAS, the City Council has developed a Comprehensive Plan
which identifies improvements to the Waterfront Park along the
western shore of the city; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Land and Water Conserva-
tion Fund, federal funding assistance has been authorized and made
available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and
construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public
bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council considers it to be in the public
interest to continue developing Waterfront Park;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to make
formal application to the State Liaison Officer for funding
assistance from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
Section 2. Any funding received shall be used in the
development of recreational facilities within Waterfront Park.
Section 3. Funding for the city'S share of the project shall
be derived from campground revenues.
Section 4. Any property acquired or land developed with
financial aid through the State Liaison Officer shall be placed in
use as an outdoor recreation facility and shall be retained in such
use in perpetuity unless otherwise provided and agreed to by the
City Council, the State Liaison Officer and the National Park
Service.
Section 5. This resolution shall become a part of a formal
application to the Alaska Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation.
Section 6. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 28th day of October, 1991.
