RESOLUTION NO. 91-140
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ENDORSING THE CANDIDACY OF
CITY CLERK LINDA MURPHY FOR A SEAT ON THE BOARD
OF DIRECTORS OF THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF
MUNICIPAL CLERKS
WHEREAS, Linda Murphy was employed as the Deputy City Clerk
for the city of Seward in August 1981 and was appointed City Clerk
in February 1982; and
WHEREAS, Murphy has been a member of the Alaska Association of
Municipal Clerks and the International Institute of Municipal
Clerks since September 1981; and
WHEREAS, Murphy has regularly attended conferences and
training sponsored by AAMC and IIMC since 1982; and
WHEREAS, Murphy is a past president of AAMC and continues to
serve as an ex-officio member of the AAMC Board; and
WHEREAS, Murphy has served on the Records Management Committee
and the International Committee of IIMC and has been recognized by
IIMC for her participation on these committees; and
WHEREAS, Murphy has received the Certified Municipal Clerk
designation and has been accepted into the Academy for Advanced
Education by the IIMC; and
WHEREAS, Murphy has the necessary qualifications to seek a
seat on the Board of Directors of IIMC and has been encouraged to
do so by municipal clerks in and outside the state of Alaska; and
WHEREAS, if elected, Murphy's attendance at mid year IIMC
Board meetings would be paid by IIMC and her attendance at Region
IX state association meetings outside the state of Alaska would be
paid by AAMC; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the professional
development attendant with Murphy's continued active participation
in IIMC will be of benefit to the city of Seward;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:

RESOLUTION NO. 91-140
Section 1. The city of Seward hereby endorses the candidacy
of City Clerk Linda S. Murphy for a seat on the Board of Directors
of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 28th day of October, 1991.
