CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-125
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A PURCHASE ORDER
TO BROWN'S RIVER BINDERY FOR THE PRESERVATION
OF HISTORICAL RECORDS WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION
OF CITY BID PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, on August 26, 1996, the City Council approved Resolution No. 96-109,
accepting a state matching grant for historical records preservation and appropriating funds; and
WHEREAS, this preservation project includes the restoration and protection of the City's
original ordinances and resolutions and the binding of these documents in a protective coverings;
and
WHEREAS, Brown's River Bindery is one of the few companies specializing in the
restoration and protection of historical records and has been providing this service to the City of
Seward, the Kenai Peninsula Borough and several other Alaskan municipalities for the past several
years; and
WHEREAS, Brown's River Bindery personnel are familiar with the City's records and have
provided excellent service in the past; and
WHEREAS, the City Code allows for the purchase of specialized products and services
without utilization of City bid procedures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to issue a purchase order not to exceed $21,306
to Brown's River Bindery for the restoration, protection, binding and shipping of original City
ordinances and resolutions.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 23rd
day of September, 1996.
