RESOLUTION NO. 98-006
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF LOT 8, BLOCK 16, FEDERAL
ADDITION TO SEWARD TOWNSITE, FOR INCLUSION IN THE TWO
LAKES PARK
WHEREAS, on September 23,1996 the City Council approved Resolution No. 96-126,
accepting a Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant for Two Lakes Park and appropriating
matching funds; and
WHEREAS, phase one ofthe grant project involves acquiring three private parcels ofland
located within the park area; and
WHEREAS, on October 10, 1997 a letter was sent to Brian and Austina Cummings, owners
of Lot 8, Block 16, Federal Addition, requesting that they consider selling or donating the 5,000
square foot parcel to the City of Seward for inclusion in the Two Lakes Park; and
WHEREAS, in response to that letter, the owner offered to sell Lot 8, Block 16, Federal
Addition, to the City of Seward for the appraised value of $5,000; and
WHEREAS, MacSwain Associates determined in 1995 that the appraised value of Lot 8,
Block 16, Federal Addition was $5,000; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing meeting the requirements of Seward City Code S 7.05.210 was
held on January 26, 1998;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to finalize the purchase and accept a
Warranty Deed for Lot 8, Block 16, Federal Addition to Seward Townsite for the appraised value
of$5,000.
Section 2. Funds from the Two Lakes Project Fund Account, established by Resolution No.
96-126, shall be used to purchase Lot 8, Block 16, Federal Addition.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect 30 days after passage and posting as required by
Seward City Code S 7.05.135.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 26th day
ofJanuary, 1998.
