RESOLUTION NO. 2006-54
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A
PURCHASE ORDER TO ALASKA ENVIRONMENTAL & SAFETY
SUPPLY, INC. FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF
POLICE EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT ON TWO YEAR 2006 FORD
CROWN VICTORIA VEHICLES, FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$12,840.00
WHEREAS, the 2006 Budget included $60,000 in funding to purchase and equip two
replacement police vehicles, and the administration is recommending the purchase of two year
2006 Ford Crown Victoria patrol vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the vehicles must be professionally equipped with police emergency
equipment; and
WHEREAS, Alaska Environmental & Safety Supply, Inc. is the only firm in Alaska
specializing in this type of equipment sales and installation; and
WHEREAS, Alaska Environmental & Safety Supply, Inc. has equipped other patrol
vehicles for the City with good customer service and has given an estimate of$12,840.00 for the
purchase and installation of equipment on the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has sufficient funds in the Motor Pool Equipment
Account to cover the cost of the equipment and installation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City of Seward hereby approves Resolution 2006-54, authorizing the City
Manager to issue a purchase order to Alaska Environmental & Safety, Inc. for the purchase and
installation of police emergency equipment (excluding radios) on two model year 2006 Ford
Crown Victoria patrol vehicles, at a cost not to exceed $12,840.00.
Section 2. The cost of the equipment and installation, $12,840.00, will be charged to
Motor Pool Fund equipment account number 102-1020-5930.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.

Agenda Item: Approval for Purchase of Patrol Vehicle Equipment and Installation

BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION:
The 2006 budget included funding in the amount of $60,000 to purchase two replacement
vehicles for the Seward Police Department. The administration is requesting authorization to
purchase two 2006 Ford Crown Victoria patrol vehicles. The vehicles need to be equipped with
emergency and safety equipment. In prior years the City has contracted services from Alaska
Environmental & Safety Supply, Inc. to purchase equipment and have the equipment installed.
This company did an outstanding job and has honored warranty work flawlessly. Alaska
Environmental & Safety Supply, Inc. is the only firm in Alaska specializing in this type of
equipment sales and installation.
The equipment needed for a new patrol vehicle consists of a light bar, push bumper, headlight
flasher, spotlight, prisoner partitions, gun mount, pa and siren system, switch control station, etc.
The Police Department has contacted Alaska Environmental & Safety Supply, Inc. and has been
given an estimated cost of $6,420 per patrol vehicle, for a total amount not to exceed $12,840.00.
INTENT:
Outfit two new patrol vehicles with equipment necessary to perform patrol duties.

Recommend approval of Resolution 2006- authorizing the City Manager to issue a purchase
order for the purchase of equipment and installation of equipment for two new patrol vehicles
from Alaska Environmental Safety & Supply, Inc., at a cost not to exceed $12,840.00.
