CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 98-021
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER A
CONTRACT WITH ALASKA ABATEMENT CORPORATION FOR THE
DEMOLITION OF THE OLD SEWARD HOSPITAL BUILDING FOR AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $289,000 AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, in the fall of 1997, the City of Seward advertised for and received bids for
demolition of the old Hospital Building; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened on October 27, 1997 from five bidders; and
WHEREAS, Alaska Abatement was the low bidder at $289,000
WHEREAS, in January of 1998, the City council approved Resolution No. 98-005, which
authorized the hiring of Locher Interests Ltd. to review the proposal of Alaska Abatement
Corporation including the "Scope of Work" and make a recommendation to the City; and
WHEREAS, Locher Interests Ltd. is recommending Alaska Abatement Corporation for the
removal of the old hospital structure;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council approves Resolution No. 98-021, authorizing the Acting City
Manager to enter into a contract with Alaska Abatement for the demolition of the old Seward
Hospital Building for an amount not to exceed $289,000.
Section 2. Funding shall be from account 311-3110-5190 and an appropriation of$133,255
from the General account designated for Seward General Hospital related expenses, 101-0000-3042-
0001.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 23rd
day of March, 1998.
