CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 98-030
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING A PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN GRANT IN
THE AMOUNT OF $750.00 AND APPROPRIATING A MATCHING
PORTION OF $750.00 FOR AN EDUCATION CAMPAIGN DESIGNED TO
ADVERTISE THE STATE OF ALASKA'S LAWS REGARDING MINORS
CONSUMING ALCOHOL AND THE LOSS OF THEIR DRIVER'S LICENSE
FOR SUCH CITATIONS
WHEREAS, the Seward Teen & Youth Center was recently informed of the approval for
a public awareness campaign to advertise the State of Alaska's laws regarding minors consuming
alcohol and the loss of their driver's license for such citations; and
WHEREAS, the project has two main purposes; and
WHEREAS, the first purpose includes offering positive recreation choices on high-risk
evenings such as prom and graduation evenings; and
WHEREAS, this grant will help host all-night parties following these big events at the Teen
& Youth Center highlighting dancing, music, games, prizes, movies and continental breakfast; and
WHEREAS, the second purpose will focus on a parade float to be entered in the Fourth of
July parade; and
WHEREAS, this grant will help promote a unique message written and designed by the
Teen Council; and
WHEREAS, the grant award of$750 for a supplies budget, and an additional $750 in-kind
match, will come from the existing Teen & Youth Center operating budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council approves Resolution 98-030, accepting a public awareness
campaign grant in the amount of$750.00 to account 101-0000-4360-0010 and appropriating $750.00
to project number 101-1430-5440-00020.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 13th
day of April, 1998.
