CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 98-046
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AMENDING THE EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH SCOTT
JANKE TO ALLOW MR. JANKE TO BE COVERED BY THE SOCIAL
SECURITY SYSTEM INSTEAD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD'S RETIRE-
MENTPLAN
WHEREAS, incoming City Manager Scott Janke has requested to amend his employment
agreement to remove him from participation in the City's retirement plan; and
WHEREAS, the City's retirement plan is the State of Alaska Public Employees Retirement
System (PERS); and
WHEREAS, it is possible to exempt various employee classifications from PERS; and
WHEREAS, Internal Revenue Regulations require that employees who are not covered by
a qualified retirement plan, such as PERS, must be covered under the Social Security retirement
system;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council hereby approves Resolution No. 98-046, amending the
employment agreement with Scott Janke allowing Mr. Janke to be covered by the Social Security
Retirement System instead of the City's retirement plan.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 27th
day of April, 1998.
