CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 98-085
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A I-YEAR CONTRACT BETWEEN mE
CITY OF SEWARD AND THE STATE OF ALASKA, DEPARTMENT OF
CORRECTIONS mAT PROVIDES FOR THE CITY OF SEWARD TO
OPERATE mE SEWARD COMMUNITY JAIL AND HOUSE
PRISONERS CHARGED AND/OR SENTENCED UNDER ALASKA
STATUTES.
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has received a proposed I-year contract from the State
of Alaska for the operation of the Seward Correctional Center; and
WHEREAS, the tenns of the contract follow the guidelines established by the Governor's
Task Force for Community Jails; and
WHEREAS, the contract amount for the City of Seward is $363,464.67 to operate the
Seward Community Jail in accordance with the attached contract from July 1, 1998 through June
30, 1999;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF mE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council hereby approves Resolution No. 98-085, authorizing the
attached Appendix C and Appendix D to the contract between the City of Seward and the State
of Alaska, Department of Corrections that provides for the City of Seward to operate the Seward
Community Jail, and house prisoners charged and/or sentenced under Alaska Statutes.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect July 1, 1998.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this
22nd day of June, 1998.
