RESOLUTION NO. 98-095
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE FOUR
19993/4 TON 4X4 EXTENDED CAB TRUCKS WITH 6 FOOT BOXES AND
11999 1 TON 4X4 REGULAR CAB TRUCK FROM CAL WORTHINGTON
FORD
WHEREAS, the City of Seward submitted an invitation to bid on five new vehicles for the
Harbor, Electric, and Engineering Departments; and
WHEREAS, although the specifications were generic, only two Ford dealers responded to
the bid; and
WHEREAS, the bids have been reviewed by the appropriate Department Heads and
approved as meeting their requirements; and
WHEREAS, the prices were slightly higher than anticipated, however a $3,000.00 reduction
was obtained from Cal Worthington Ford bid by not having the vehicles repainted; and
WHEREAS, the two dealers who responded with a price for five vehicles are: Cal
Worthington Ford at $141,On.00 (reduced by $3000) and Nye Frontier Ford at $144,295.00, with
Cal Worthington Ford being the lower bidder by $3,223.00; and
WHEREAS, funding will be from the Motor Pool fund, with the Harbor Fund appropriating
an additional $10,943 to cover the amount the bids exceeded the FY 99 budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to purchase four (4) 19993/4 ton 4X4 extended
cab with 6 ft. boxes, and one (1) 1999 1 ton 4 wheel drive regular cab from Cal Worthington Ford
for a price of$141,On.
Section 2. Funding will be from the Motor Pool Internal Service Fund, equipment account
no. 102-1020-5390, with an additional appropriation of$10,943 from the Harbor Enterprise Fund,
account no. 401-0000-3095-0102, to the Motor Pool Fund, account no. 102-0000-3075-0000.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 27th
day of July, 1998.
