ORDINANCE NO. 574
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SOCI'ION 19A.46 'ID CONFORM'ID
NEW STATE REGUlATIONS (HB 697) PROOIBITING MUNICIPAL SALES
TAX ON PURCHASES f1ADE WITH FOOD STAMPS
WHEREAS, HB 697 prohibits sales tax on purchases made with
food stanps; and
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has arrended its sales tax
regulations to include such an exenption; and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward is required by law to confom to
the provisions of HB 697 and is required by the Borough to confom to
its regulations and exemptions relative to sales tax collection so long
as the Kenai Peninsula Borough continues to collect sales tax for the
City of Seward;
NCW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. A new Subsection 19A. 46 (14) is hereby created to
read as follows:
(14) Purchases made with food coupons, food
stanps, or other type of certificate issued under 7
V.S.C. 2011-2025 (Food Stanp Act).
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days
following enactrrent.
