CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 590
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SECTIONS 6-11.6 AND 6.11.7
OF THE SEWARD CITY CODE RELATIVE TO SIGNS ON
VEHICLES AND VEHICLES FOR HIRE
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1.
hereby amended
follows:
Section 6-11.6 of the Seward City Code
by adding new subsections (w) and (x)
is
as
Sec. 6-11.6. Signs allowed without
permits.
(w) Two- or three-sided signs
mounted on the roof of a vehicle for
hire (as defined in Section 20-1 (a) of
this Code) not exceeding fourteen inches
(14") in height and thirty-nine inches
(39") in length each; signs on the side
of said vehicle not exceeding four (4)
square feet; or a sign mounted between
the bumper and the lowest level of the
rear window, not exceeding eighteen
inches (18") by thirty-six inches (36"),
provided that any such signs are not
internally lighted or moving;
(x) Signs on vehicles, operated
during the normal course of business,
which identify the firm or its principal
product. (See also Section 6-11. 7 (c) of
this Code.)
Section 2. Section 6-ll.7(c) of the Seward City Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 6-11.7. Prohibited signs.
(c) Signs attached to, or placed
on, a vehicle or trailer which is parked
in such a manner as to be construed as
advertising a business establishment.
(This provision shall not be construed
as prohibiting the identification of a
firm or its principal product directly
on a vehicle operated during the normal

course of business, nor as prohibiting
signs on vehicles which constitute the
place of business, e. g., caterers or
itinerant merchants.)
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10)
days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, this 22 day of June , 1987.
