CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 593
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, ELIMINATING THAT PORTION OF SECTION
17-5.5(B) OF THE CITY CODE REQUIRING CITY EMPLOYEES
TO SUBMIT TO ANNUAL TUBERCULIN TESTING
WHEREAS, Section 17-5.5(b) of the Seward City Code
requires all city employees to receive an annual Tuberculin
test; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Division
historically provided this service
city; and

WHEREAS, the Division of Public Health has changed its
policy and no longer provides the service free of charge;
and
WHEREAS, the Division of Public Health will not negoti-
ate a contract with the city to continue to provide thi s
service and, rather, will require each employee to pay at
the time of testing; and
WHEREAS, the public health benefits of an annual TB
test are no longer present, given the virtual lack of
positive reaction among city employees;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Section 17-5.5(b) of the Seward City Code
is hereby repealed.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10)
days following its enactment.
