CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 98-102
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, SUBMITTING A PROPOSITION TO THE VOTERS AT THE
OCTOBER 6,1998, REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION WHICH SHALL
AMEND THE SEWARD CITY CHARTER, SECTION 6.6, TO REQUIRE
THAT THE ANNUAL AUDIT BE COMPLETED WITHIN ONE HUNDRED
TWENTY DAYS FOLLOWING THE CLOSE OF THE FISCAL YEAR
WHEREAS, the City Charter, Section 6.6, independent audit, currently requires the annual
audit be completed within ninety days following the close of the fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends that the annual audit be revised to reflect the
change in the fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, if the voters approve the change, an ordinance will be introduced to Council
to amend the City Charter to require that the annual audit be completed within one hundred twenty
days following the close of the fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, this allows the Council to have flexibility in contracting with an audit firm;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Clerk is hereby directed to submit Proposition No.3 to the voters at the
October 6, 1998, regular municipal election which would amend the Seward City Charter,
Section 6.6.
Section 2. The question of the proposition shall be substantially in the following form:
Proposition No.3
Shall the Seward City Charter 6.6, independent audit, be amended to read "the annual audit
shall be made by certified public accountants employed by the council and shall be
completed within one hundred twenty days following the close of the fiscal year"?

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
