CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 617
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA,
RELATIVE TO MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS' COMPLIANCE WITH
ALASKA STATUTES 39.50
WHEREAS, Alaska Statutes 39.50 establishes and sets forth a
conflict of interest law applicable to municipal officers; and,
WHEREAS, the city of Seward has not elected to exempt its
municipal officers from the requirements of AS 39.50; and,
WHEREAS, AS 39.50.200 (a)(7) includes in its definition of
"municipal officer" the mayor, councilmembers, city manager, and
planning commission members; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes it is
interest to require compliance with the provisions
Seward Community Hospital Board members;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, HEREBY ORDAINS:
Section 1.

Sec. 2. 01.020 is hereby amended to read as
2.01.020 Conflict of interest. A. Municipal officers of the
city shall comply with the provisions of AS 39.50. As used herein,
"municipal officers" shall include the mayor, councilmembers, the
city manager, Seward advisory planning and zoning commissioners,
and community hospital board members.
Section 2.

This ordinance shall take effect 10 days after
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, this 8th day of May, 1989.
