CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 646
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, CHANGING THE OPENING DATE
OF PUBLIC CAMPGROUNDS
WHEREAS, the City Code currently provides for the opening of
public campgrounds on May 15th of each year; and
WHEREAS, over the past three seasons, the Council has approved
resolutions to allow the opening of public campgrounds prior to May
15th; and
WHEREAS, until the campgrounds are officially opened, the
Parks and Recreation Department is unable to collect the summer
camping fee from those utilizing the campgrounds;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
section 1. section 7.15.010 B. of the City Code is hereby
repealed and re-enacted to read as follows:
B. Camping in designated public campgrounds slu1ll be allowed between
April 15 and September 30 each year, provided, however, tlu1t the City Manager
may delay the opening of campgrounds until such time as staffing and weather
conditions permit such use. Except for those areas opened for camping by
resolution of the Council, all public campgrounds slu1ll be closed to camping
beginning October 1 through April 14, annually.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days
following its enactment.
