CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 660
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ESTABLISHING A COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS
that:
Section 1. Seward City Code Chapter 2.25, City Departments,
is hereby amended by adding the following new sections to read as
follows:
2.25.140 Community Development Department--estab-
lished. There is established the city of Seward Communi-
ty Development Department. The principal officer shall
be the community development director who shall fulfill
the duties and have the responsibilities as set forth in
the employee's job description and who shall be subject
to the direction and supervision of the city manager.
2.25.145 Community Development Department--powers
and duties. The Community Development Department shall:
1. Provide for long and short term municipal
planning with regard to the city comprehensive plan, land
use plan and other internal plans for the use of city
owned lands;
2. Provide overall management, as coordinated with
other departments, of city owned lands and tidelands to
include their use, development, lease, acquisition, sale,
appraisal and platting;
3. Formulate, recommend and administer policies
and procedures pertaining to city zoning regulations;
4. Develop and maintain demographic and other
resource information about Seward;
5. Provide staff services in the field of communi-
ty promotions such as development of city displays,
graphics and brochures;
6. Provide staff services in the field of economic
development by working with businesses, groups and
individuals interested in locating in Seward by supplying
land use, permitting and statistical information;
7. Maintain a reference library of plans, reports
and documents about or pertaining specifically to Seward;
and
8. Provide other services and duties as directed
by the city manager.

ORDINANCE NO. 660
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days
following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA,
this 25th day of November, 1991.
