Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 92-04 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SCC f 8.15.610, EMPLOYEE CAMPGROUNDS WHEREAS, SCC f 8.15.610 limits the operation of employee campgrounds to no more than 150 days per calendar year, between April 15 and September 30; and WHEREAS, the development of other fisheries such as Pacific Cod may require production times other than those established by code and based upon traditional salmon production seasons; and WHEREAS, such activities might occur with relatively short notice and/or for a limited time making it difficult to establish specific times for the operation of employee campgrounds; and WHEREAS, there appears to be a need to create some flexibility in the code to provide for council discretion in the periods of operation for employee campgrounds. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that: Section 1. SCC Article 6 Employee Campgrounds 8.15.610 Purpose. is hereby amended to read: Generally, employee campgrounds are for established businesses with high seasonal employment of transient workers, and are not to be construed as construction camps. No employee campground may be open for more than one hundred fifty days per calendar year, and may not open earlier than April 15, nor remain open later than September 30, except by resolution of the city council based on specific findings that a longer term, earlier opening date and/or later closing date is warranted because of special circumstances. Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment. ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this 24th day of February, 1992.
