CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 98-108
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, IN SUPPORT OF KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH ORDINANCE
NO. 98-48 AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF LAND AND APPROPRI-
ATING FUNDS FROM THE LAND TRUST FUND FOR THE FUTURE
BUILDING SITE FOR THE NORTH PACIFIC VOLCANO LEARNING
CENTER
WHEREAS, the City of Seward approved Resolution No. 97-078 in support of the
development and construction of the North Pacific Volcano Leaming Center; and
WHEREAS, the North Pacific Volcano Learning Center has requested a Resolution in
support ofthe Kenai Peninsula Borough Ordinance No. 98-48; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 98-48 would appropriate $315,000 from the Kenai Peninsula
Borough Land Trust Fund for the purchase of the site of the Learning Center;
WHEREAS, assisting the North Pacific Volcano Learning Center serves a public purpose
in that it will promote the heath, safety and general welfare of the public by increasing knowledge
about the volcanoes, by providing economic benefits through new jobs and attracting tourists to the
borough, and by providing a trail system and protection ofthe Stariski Creek Estuary;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City of Seward supports the Kenai Peninsula Borough Ordinance 98-48.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 14th
day of September, 1998.
