CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 92-20
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE
SECTION 14.15.515, ELECTRICAL LINE EXTENSION
CONSTRUCTION FOR LARGE GENERAL SERVICE AND SMALL
GENERAL SERVICE CUSTOMERS
WHEREAS, the city of Seward wishes to encourage economic development in
order to create jobs in the area; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to provide service extensions to Large
General Service and Small General Service customers who can demonstrate or guarantee
enough revenue to the electric utility to repay the cost of the extension within five years;
and
WHEREAS, this change to the city's utility code and tariff will guarantee a cost
effective invesbnent of Electric Department funds and will allow a job-creating customer
to start a business without the additional capital invesbnent required for an electric
service installation;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. A new subsection 14.15.515 C. is hereby created to read as follows:
C. For Large General and Small General Seruke accounts, the City
Manager shall have the authority to waive the requirements of subsections
A.2. and A.3. above when the customer can demonstrate that five times the
Estimated Annual Revenue (5 x EAR) exceeds the estimated construction cost
of the seruke extension. The customer will execute an agreement with the
city for a monthly "Excess Minimum" charge based on the actual construction
costs of the seruke extension divided by sixty.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enacbnent.
