CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 92-22
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE
SECTION 3.20.010, RECRUITMENT POLICY
WHEREAS, the city wishes to amend the personnel code to include assurances
that the city will adhere to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Seward City Code ~ 3.20.010 is hereby amended to read as follows:
3.20.010 Policy. It shall be the policy of the city of Seward to recruit and
select the most qualified person for positions in the city's seroice. To ensure that
this policy is carried out, it shall be the responsibility of the city manager to:
A. conduct recruitment and selection in an affinnative manner to
ensure open competition;
B. provide equal employment opportunity;
C. prohibit discrimination because of race, age, disability, political
affiliation, religion, sex, national origin or any other non-merit factor. The
standards set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 will be followed
in the selection of employees of the city.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
26th day of October, 1992.
