CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 93-03
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING CHAPTER 12.10, SIGNS,
TO ALLOW TIME AND TEMPERATURE SIGNS
WHEREAS, Chapter 12.10 of the Seward City Code, the Sign Code, has been in
use since 1986 with little review; and
WHEREAS, circumstances in land planning and community direction have
changed over the years; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to modify specific sections of the Code in order to
reflect these changes;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Seward City Code Section 12.10.040, prohibited signs, Subsection 8., is
hereby amended to read as follows:
8. except for time and temperature readout signs as approved by permit of
the commission, any sign with any illuminating devices having a changing light
intensity, or which creates an appearance or illusion of writing, printing or
animation;
Section 2. Seward City Code Subsection 12.10.045 C.I.a. is hereby amended to
read as follows:
a. Free-standing signs shall not exceed twenty feet in height
or the height of the building, whichever is less (see ~ 12.10.040, subsection 15.).
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
25th day of January, 1993.
