Sponsored by: Sieminski & Bencardino Introduction Date: 03/25/93 Public Hearing Date: 04/12/93 Action set aside due to technical error in procedure: 07/26/93 2nd Public Hearing Date: 07/26/93 CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 93-07 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING THE SEWARD LAND USE PLAN AND ZONING DISTRICT FOR PORTIONS OF BLOCKS 7 AND 8, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF SEWARD WHEREAS, the development of the Alaska Sea Life Center along Railway Avenue will have a dramatic impact on the city of Seward and, in particular, the downtown and waterfront areas; and WHEREAS, the anticipated growth in service industry businesses in the immediate vicinity of the Sea Life Center will necessitate an expansion of the Central Business District; and WHEREAS, such expansion will logically extend to Ballaine Avenue, and it is in the public interest to begin making the necessary changes to the Land Use Plan and zoning in this area to facilitate development to meet the needs which will be created by the Alaska Sea Life Center; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that: Section 1. The Seward Land Use Plan is hereby amended to change the designation for Lots 7-25A, Block 7, and Lots 17, 18, and 19, Block 8, Original Townsite of Seward, from Urban Residential to Central Business District. Section 2. The Zoning District designation for Lots 7-25A, Block 7, Original Townsite of Seward, is hereby changed from Auto Commercial to Central Business District. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment. ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this 26th day of July, 1993.
