ORDINANCE NO. 94-07
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TH& CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD crn CODE
~ 5.40.020, REDUCING THE BED TAX TO THREE, PER CENT
WHEREAS, local hotel and bed and breakfast establishment owners and operators
have contended that the city's implementation of a five pljtcent bed tax, which will result
in a total tax on beds of ten percent including the yity and borough sales tax, will
adversely affect the tourist trade; and '

WHEREAS, reducing the bed tax to three,percent will put the city's tax in line
with the municipality of Anchorage's eight percent bed tax;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY c;oUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that: I

Section 1. Seward City Code ~f40.020 is hereby amended to read:

5.40.020 Levy of tax. /
A. There is h~ee 1evied a tax on all hotel/motel room rent not exempt
from taxation under subsec on B. of this section in an amount equal to !We three
percent of the hotel/motel oom rent.

Section 2. This ~inance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
