AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CODE
CHAPTER 5.40, VISITOR ASSESSMENT FEE, B INCREASING
THE AMOUNT OF THE ASSESSMENT AND PRO ING FOR THE
DEDICATION OF ASSESSMENT FEES C LECTED TO
THE SEWARD CHAMBER OF C CE
WHEREAS, a visitor assessment fee was es lished by the City Council to generate
revenues to offset a portion of the costs to the city a ociated with the growing visitor industry;
and
WHEREAS, the Seward Chamber 0 Commerce actively participates in community
promotion and provides numerous services both visitors to the city and local businesses that
benefit from the visitor industry; and
WHEREAS, it is in the pub' interest to dedicate the visitor assessment fees collected
under the provisions of Seward Cit Code Chapter 5.40 to the Seward Chamber of Commerce
to assist the Chamber in fulfillin this mission;
, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
S that:
Section 1. Se am City Code ~ 5.40.015 is hereby amended to read as follows:
5.40.015 sitor assessment ee
ere is established an annual visitor assessment fee in the amount of $1 ()()
room available for occupancy to be paid by all lodging establishment
New Seward City Code ~ 5.40.035 is hereby created to read as follows:
5.40. 035 Dedication of assessment fees collected.
All visitor assessment fees collected under this chapter shall be dedicated
to the Seward Chamber of Commerce.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
