CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 94-31
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE
SECTION 5.20.075 TO PROVIDE THAT THE PENALTY FOR
IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT ASSESSMENTS BE SET BY RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Code currently provides that the tenns and interest rate on
assessment districts be set by resolution of the Council but that the penalty and interest on
penalty for the assessment district be set at the same rate as that for real property taxes; and
WHEREAS, generally, the interest rates on assessment districts are different than those
established by the borough for real property taxes; and
WHEREAS, this complicates accounting computations and is confusing to the customer
and title companies;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Seward City Code Section 5.20.075 is hereby amended to read as follows:
5.20.075 Penalty.
Penalty for late payment of assessments shall be set in the resolution
confinning the special assessment roll of the special assessment district.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
22nd day of August, 1994.
